Byzantine Infant

I have frequently have used images of my son for paintings and drawings. Being a lover of art history, the Byzantine Madonna in the background was meant to be an invisible prescence watching over my son and keeping him safe. The drawing style varies between the picture of my son to the image of the madonna, one fairly realistic, the other somewhat illustrative looking.
This was created on 300lb watercolor paper, covered with a light blue wash, and then the drawing was added. It was only after I thought I was done, that I decided to add the tissue paper texture at the top of the drawing.
Medium: Mixed w/charcoal
Dimensions: 24"*36"
Price: $300.00

Woman In Time

This is the first collage I created. I used charcoal on top of the watercolor wash to give the picture some depth. The idea behind this piece was to show the changing image of women through various societies with regard to pregnancy. The woman in the middle is an image from Van Eyke's Wedding Portrait. It is unclear whether she was actually pregnant at the time of the painting, or if it is simply an optical illusion, due to the way her dress is folded. I then added a contemporary image at the bottom of the picture to balance the picture and demonstrate the various sociological differences throughout the space of time.

Medium: Mixed, Charcoal

Dimensions: 26"*34"

Price: $400.00

Behind the History

This piece was created on mat board with newspaper as collage material. I then overlayed a watercolor wash on top. Then I used charcoal to draw the images of Stonehenge, the Venus of Willendorf, and then added the image of my son in the center. I wanted to create a balance of historical images mixed with the picture of my son. Your comments and feedback are welcomed.

Dimensions: 26" x 34".
Asking Price: $300

Hail The Caesar

This piece is a 16" x 20" pastel and acryclic over collage. It was inspired by my husband's love of historical novels about ancient Rome.
